Values & Aims

St Mark’s Hall aims to create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment where children feel safe and secure; an environment where children form good relationships with their peers and teachers.

Pupils of St, Mark’s are encouraged to fulfil their full potential through a balance of play and structured learning. Children learn from experiences in which they are actively involved. St Mark’s offers a wide selection of stimulating activities including yoga, dance, drama, creative art, and exercise which are core to the well-being and development of young children’s minds and abilities.

The curriculum at St Mark’s Hall includes a Montessori education that blends well within the nursery. Not only does this nurture independent thinking but it provides early years’ foundation skills as well as awareness in children of their environment, empathy for others, social ability and confidence.

The team believe that a child’s experience of nursery should be exciting and creative, giving them a space in which they feel comfortable to explore the possibilities of the world and an environment which gives them space to have fun, learn and reflect.

Parents
Parents form a vital part of the school community and as such are asked to join us from time to time to read stories, talk about their hobbies and interests or share religious festivals.

All parents automatically become members of the school’s Parent Association whose representatives organise regular coffee mornings and a range of social events for parents and children including the school’s Sports Day and our annual Nativity Play.

Our Approach
With initial emphasis on the development of personal and emotional skills, the school builds on each child’s strengths through the curriculum and the range of additional groups and classes within the school day. The importance of exercise and the Arts should never be underestimated or take second place to academia.

Each child is allocated a Key Person who will spend time with them each day with a special programme tailor-made to each child’s individual learning path. We report to parents regularly and operate an open-door policy for parents.
The development of academic skills is encouraged through one-to-one tuition, the curriculum, and weekly classes as well as a bespoke plan for each child.

Our Team
Team members are the school’s most valuable asset and are carefully chosen for their qualifications and their love of educating children of this age group.

With a range of qualifications, backgrounds and specialities, we ensure that the team reflects the value of diversity.

The school maintains a higher than average teacher: pupil ratio.
